Motivation & Goals
Motivation is begot by doing. It doesn’t take much for me to be motivated to create jewellery – just showing up for work in any creative passion is important to me. The more I do it, the more I build that design-to-creation muscle.
Motivation comes from people trusting me with commissions – particularly for their wedding rings.
Word of mouth motivates me, the wonderful work of fellow artists, jewellers and designers, and the stories they tell.
Honestly…Goals can be financially-driven at lean times of the year, at other times they can be simply pleasure-driven, usually post-commission, when I can make something absolutely for the sheer pleasure of creating something. When they sell, well that is a goal well met!
Goals are also oriented around my continuous learning, as well as teaching. Anything new motivates me with it’s freshness. I know where I want to be with my art, and what I have tried that works, and what I need to put to the side. I aim always toward improving my technique and honing my craft.
2019 – 2020 goals include building up the business marketing muscles (even in the face of any artistic or existential crisis) and to keep showing up for work. And making serious money from my art.
